Jon Phelan Selected for the 2011 Rugby World Cup (Team Canada)

  by MARTIN CORMIER
Canadian national senior men's coach Kieran Crowley has released a 50-man extended Rugby World Cup squad.

A squad list is a requirement of the IRB for the Rugby World Cup and can be as few as 30 or as many as 50 players.

While the 30-man cup squad confirmation isn't due until July, Crowley said he wanted players to know where they stood in terms of development and selection opportunities.

NBA : A few changes may be coming, but full mock stands for now.

Arizona's Derrick Williams will be a high pick in Thursday's Draft ... by someone.

On a recent night in a Marina del Rey restaurant he's among patrons half his size, and soon to be a fraction as rich.

Yet the waiters shuffle by — "Excuse me, sir? Excuse me?" he says to no avail — as if he's not there.

But Williams' place in the spotlight will come Thursday when the lightly recruited La Mirada High product turned-Arizona star forward struts on stage in a tailored black suit as the likely first or second overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft.

McGill kicker signs with CFL's Roughriders

MONTREAL -- Tomas Silva, a kicker with the McGill University Redmen, was added to the active roster by the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League, Monday.

He joins Calgary long-snapper Randy Chevrier as one of only two McGill grads currently on a CFL roster.
Silva, a 24-year-old native of Kingston, Ont., played just one season with the Redmen after transferring from the University of Western Ontario last fall. The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder finished fifth among CIS punting leaders last season, averaging 40.1 yards per punt over nine games.

He led the CIS in both punts (93) and yardage (3,730). Silva, who took the roster spot of import defensive back Courtney Bryan, also registered one kickoff for 40.0 yards, went 2-for-2 in field-goal attempts, including a successful 37-yarder and added a rouge on a punt single.

IFBB Bikini Pro & Fitness Model Tabitha Klausen-Leandri Talks With Simplyshredded.com

How did you get started?

I struggled with eating disorders as a teen, and fitness/clean eating has turned my life completely around. I went from 115 lbs. at my worst point to a healthy 140 lbs. at almost 6′ tall! I quit smoking after 5 years, and started eating healthy for the first time. I started lifting weights at my local gym with the help of a friend’s guidance. That “friend” ended up becoming my Husband. I made the decision to dedicate my life to helping others change their lives. I decided I wanted to become a NASM certified personal trainer and teach people the correct ways to get their bodies in shape, and their self-esteem back! I also started traveling 30mins almost every day to The Montanari Brother’s Gold’s Gym New Haven. There I met my current Coach Jerry Montanari. He told me I would be perfect for competing and once I finally agreed, (I was terrified of getting onstage!) he gave me a contest diet and prepped me for my first show.

IFPA Pro Bodybuilder Doug “The Machine” Miller Talks With Simplyshredded.com

How did you get started with bodybuilding?

I grew up in Huntingdon Valley, PA, a small town near Philadelphia. Throughout my childhood I was extremely active in sports including soccer, swimming, and baseball. In high school, I earned 11 varsity letters in these sports and was an all-regional athlete. I was recruited by a number of smaller, Division-1AA colleges but always lacked the size to earn a scholarship at a Division-1 school. When I graduated high school, I was 135 pounds soaking wet! Deciding to pursue academics over athletics in college, I chose to attend Penn State University’s Scheyer Honors Program. I graduated as valedictorian with degrees in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Economics. Although I was extremely focused on academics, there was something missing. I missed the training involved with athletics so as a freshman one of my roommates introduced me to the weight room. I was instantly hooked. Although I lived on cold cereal, by the time I graduated I had a well-built, 175-pound frame and had learned a lot about proper training.

Power-play struggles kill B's momentum in Game 5

By Corey Masisak  - NHL.com Staff Writer

VANCOUVER -- The Boston Bruins played a perfect first period at even strength Friday night in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final at Rogers Arena.

Unfortunately for the Bruins, they did not take advantage of the power-play opportunities that their strong work at even strength presented them. Those missed wound up looming awfully large in a second 1-0 defeat by the Vancouver Canucks in this building this series.

Super Ligue Reserves (May 28th 2011) - RUGBY

The second grade put out a strong performance in a comprehensive 45-0 win over the visiting Ottawa Indians. A very good outing by the forward pack and some excellent decision making from Yann Fortin at 10 had the visitors on their back foot from the start. After only 5 minutes the forward pressure opened up gaps in the defence allowing Andy O’Kill over for his first score of the game. Five minutes later outstanding speed and determination from Anthony Isabella saw him touch down for the homeside and with the conversion, the Irish were up 12-0 ten minutes in. The game continued to be played in the Indians half with the Irish tackling well and not allowing the opposition to mount any threat into their half. On 20 minutes the Irish scored their third try on a beautiful line run from the centers. The remaining 20 minutes of the first half were spent inside the Indians half, but no points were scored.

The second half started as the first did with the Irish applying massive forward pressure on the Indians. After only 2 minutes Stephen Albers on his birthday crossed the line to score the fourth try for the homeside. The dominance continued through the half with the Irish running in three more tries including a beautiful intercept try by Yann Fortin from 40m on full time.
